Denton TX,

The El Dorado Aztecs and the Newman South Trojans battled it out for two halves in the Semi Final round of the Cowboys league Championship. With the game tied at 6-6 with both teams missing on drives to take the lead, we headed to overtime.

Overtime rules applied , Each team will take turns getting one (1) play from the defense’s 5-yard line for one point or the
defense’s 10-yard line for two points. Whether to go for one or two points is up to the offensive team.

Both teams failed to convert on their first three attempts, the Trojans nearly got the score but the pass was dropped. The Aztecs took the field for their opportunity and QB #13 Ivy Tarango found #2 Mailenlani Ahia in the back of the end zone to get the win for the Aztecs and putting them in the Dallas Cowboys League State Championship game against the Rockwell Heath Hawks.

With El Dorado’s win that put both El Paso’s schools (Eastwood and El Dorado) in both Championship Games in this inaugural tournament. With El Paso having the chance to play in the first ever state championship game representing the Cowboys and Texans Leagues.

That task we no easy task as the Aztecs had a undefeated Hawks time waiting for them in the finals.

The Heath Hawks from Rockwell come into the tournament with an 22-0 record and went through Day One of Pool play undefeated. Day Two the Hawks defeated the Anderson Trojans 26 -12 to place them in the Cowboys Championship game.

El Dorado’s momentum game one could not sustainment the attack of the hawks lead by QB , and USA Football Camp MVP Haley Harper. The hawks would go on to get the victory over the Aztecs in the Dallas Cowboys League Championship game with a final score of 24- 0.
